SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS

– Experience in and sound knowledge of the building practices required in steel frame shed construction and also timber house construction, building of timber frame walls and timber roof framing, laying of timber floors, installing of metal roof sheeting, etc.

– Also called a roof plumber including but not limited to:

(a) Reading and interpreting shed design plans, principles of shed set out and installation,

(b) Erecting of steel roof trusses, installation of roof and wall bracing into sheds, installation of roof purlins and wall girts onto shed frames, installation of roof and wall bridging, and fly braces onto roofs and wall purlin/girts,

(c) Installation of roof sheeting and wall sheeting, trim deck and custom orb roof and wall sheeting, installation of flashing including: ridge capping, barge capping, corner flashings, guttering and shed down pipes.

(d) Must have a good understanding of all hand tools and battery and power tools, example: power saw, drills, screw guns, hammer tap and so on.

– Be able to problem solve when required, and when unable to solve, can report to supervisor with good command of English.
